Love God, Love Others, Serve the World!
Please join us for online worship via Youtube. All in person church activities are postponed until further notice.
Dear FPC families,
Our session has decided to cancel worship for Sunday March 15th. We will remain in contact electronically to determine if we will have worship in the coming weeks. This move seems prudent as our Governor has decided to close the schools. Many churches in our area and neighboring states have already decided to cancel church activities. We hope that this decision will help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. This precautionary move is in hopes to help the healthcare system have a smaller burden. We do this to help the “least of these”, the people who because of other health concerns are more susceptible to complications. According to my brother, Dr. Kyle Geurink, we need to do what we can to help our hospitals and clinics have a lighter burden. Please pray for him and all healthcare professionals who will be under much stress in the coming weeks.
This may be a time of fear and loneliness for many people. Please take time to check in on your friends and family by phone or electronic means. I will be available by email and phone to speak or offer pastoral care. Remember, many people may contract the virus but only have minor symptoms. Take care and listen to the advice of public health officials. You can find more information at these links: https://dhhr.wv.gov/COVID-19/Pages/default.aspx,https://www.presbyterianfoundation.org/information-and-resources-on-covid-19/
At this time, we do not have livestreaming or online worship set up. Here are a couple of links for worship that you can worship with. First Presbyterian Church of Greensboro, NC: http://www.livestream.com/fpcgreensboro/fpclivestreaming
First Presbyterian Church of Lexington, KY: https://www.facebook.com/FirstPresLexington/. I will evaluate and see if we can do some form of electronic worship if worship is cancelled for March 22nd.
We will continue to do our best to make wise decisions for our church during this time. We will make regular updates when it comes to the activities of the church. These may be fearful times but be strong and courageous. Conferences, sports, church, school and other events may be cancelled. The love, hope and care of God are not. May you know the love of God in these days and reach out to those who need to know that.
Yours in Christ,
Rev. Kevin Geurink
